Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, we went to Chattanooga to visit my Uncle Lee and Aunt Lou. They had to spend Christmas in the hospital because my uncle had unexpected surgery a few days before, but he is on his way to recovery. It was the first time they met Anna.
After the hospital visit, we went to my sister Linda's house to share our annual Christmas Eve meal with my family. My sister Kathy had a cold, so we made her wear a bandana over her face when she held Anna. It was pretty comical.
Linda, my sister, had her arms full with Anna and her two dogs and Tammy was quite comfortable holding Anna.
On the way home, we drove through one of the worst rain storms I can remember. I was driving about 45 mph while all the way Anna slept without ever noticing.

Fishing on the Hooch.

This weekend, my friend Rob and I went fishing on the Chattahoochee River. This is a great time of year to catch trout as you can see from the pictures. They were going to stock the river the next day for a fly fishing expo for disable vets. It is a great cause for those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
Don't know how much time I will have for fishing now that Anna is here, but with the river so close, hopefully I can sneek away every once in awhile.

Anna's first photo shoot

On Sunday, we had Angela Calderon (http://www.angelacalderon.com/) come to the house to take some newborn photos of Anna. Anna was a very good baby and took direction well for a 6 day old. Angela works between Atlanta and Los Angeles and here are some of the proofs. She was very gentle and patient with Anna and we would highly recommend her. We go back in two weeks to see the other pictures. We hope you enjoy!

Finally Home.

Patty and Anna got to come home from the hospital yesterday and last night was our first night at home. We had two late night feedings (mommy) and two diaper changes (daddy).
The dogs, Ben & Remi, have adjusted well to Anna. They sniffed around her a lot trying to figure out what she was. I put up a picture of Anna and Remi on the bed together. Anna was leaning on Remi and Remi would not move until someone picked up Anna. I think the dogs will be very protective of Anna in they days to come.
The grandparents are over today helping out. It has allowed us to take a couple of quick naps between duties. We are very grateful.

Anna is here!
Anna Kathryn Byrd was born November 3, 2008 at 5:25PM. She was 7 lb. 6.3 oz. and 20 inches long.
Patty did an awesome job during child birth.
Anna is feeding good and both her and mom are recovering quite well. We are a very blessed family. Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
We will hopefully be going home no later than Thursday morning. We can wait to get Anna home and start the real fun of raising her.

Due date come and gone.

This past Friday, Oct. 24th was Anna's due date, but she is not ready to come into the world. Patty and I have decided to put Grover in the crib to get used to the idea. ha ha.
Heidi, our friend from church, painted us these cute pictures to match the bedding on Anna's crib. They make an awesome accessory to the room.
As soon as Anna comes, we will spread the word.
